April 2012

A whole lot of us turn our minds to the subject of money during April. The law requires us to get those tax returns filed. We soon know whether we’ll pay or get a refund. So, a couple tips: First, if we owe that means we actually made money last year. So remember it takes money to run a country, just like it does to run a household. Let’s see ourselves as helping the nation we live in to be the most amazing place on the planet to live. Second, if we get a refund from what we’ve paid in, perhaps it’s time to fill in a new W-4 form at work and adjust the number of dependants being claimed. Remember, the government is not meant to be our means of saving money. The money will sit in their coffers but no interest will be paid. It’s far smarter to have a savings account and hang onto the money ourselves; only pay the IRS and state what is necessary throughout the year.

Psalm 49:20 NIV A man who has riches without understanding is like the beasts that perish.
