Our hearts are birthing rooms, too. They were created to be His manger; a place where the holy child lives.

Lowly Circumstances

Long ago a special baby boy was born in Bethlehem. Sadly, Joseph found no guest room available that night. The only possible shelter was a stable. Having given birth to three children, I can’t imagine doing so in a barn amidst animals and unsanitary conditions. But that’s what Mary did. God wanted His Son to enter the world in lowly circumstances.

She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. (Luke 2:7b New International Version)

An Important Parallel is Drawn

Either we see the manger as holding a parallel to our lives, or we are the busy Innkeeper with no room to accommodate His birth. Which will it be? Without exception, Jesus longs to be born in human hearts.

Sometimes we get too busy to think of God’s purposes in our lives. Christmas is the perfect opportunity to see Jesus as our personal Savior. God sent Him to bring salvation to us. We are tainted by sin until we invite Jesus into our lives. He alone is able to make us white as snow and call us “righteous”. Will you wrap Jesus in your heart? Will you see Him as the most significant gift you will ever receive? I have. It’s been the best choice I’ve ever made. Better yet, once I allowed my heart to be His manger, He’s with me every day of the year. Blessings await the heart that makes room for Jesus.

Wise Men are Still Among Us

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” Matthew 2:1-2

Magi were considered very wise. They were looking for the Christ child when most of Israel didn’t think such thoughts. When they saw the star, they knew it pointed to His birth. Nothing kept them from travelling a great distance to worship the holy child.

The only requirement for being a wise man or woman, boy or girl, today is believing Jesus is the Son of God. God sent us a gift. We call Him Savior, Prince of Peace, Mighty God. Those who believe are wise. Faith is the only measure of how wise we really are. Age and education do not make us wise.

Is your heart His manger? If not, simply believe and invite Jesus in. Jesus is the Christmas story.
