Don’t Overlook Our Most Perfect Gift
The one perfect gift isn’t found beneath the Christmas tree wrapped in colorful paper and tied with pretty ribbon. And money can’t buy this present. The ultimate gift is God’s own Son, Jesus Christ. In Him is forgiveness of sin and a long list of forever promises to all who believe.
John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
The Gift of Love
We all want to be loved. But our hearts often look for love in the wrong places. Many of us know love is sometimes fickle and complicated. Human love falls short of God’s pure love. The love of God never fails.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Luke 2:14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
The gift of love is given by the Lord himself. It’s ours for the taking with one stipulation: that we believe Jesus is God’s own Son.
Our most perfect gift: The long-awaited Savior, Emmanuel, God with us.
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Please catch the personal wording in this verse. Unto us a child is born, a son is given. This gift came because God saw our biggest need was beyond human solutions. Only God could gift us with a Savior who could make us righteous in the Father’s eyes. And yet, it is a personal choice to receive the gift.
Christmastime is the season of joy.
Joy is more than feelings. It is the presence of Christ. Joy is found when we are in relationship with Jesus. Don’t confuse joy with happiness. They are not the same. Happiness depends on our circumstances from moment-to-moment. While joy is based on the awareness of God’s sovereignty in our lives. His love is forever faithful; not moody or inconsistent. He really is the most important gift of all time. It comes wrapped with grace and truth.
Because of Love, a book of inspirational poems and photos, is a beautiful gift of ongoing encouragement you might consider giving someone you love this Christmas.
