June 2012
This year getting those teens into summer jobs will not be as easy as in years past. There are less jobs available but that does not mean teens are unable to build a resume and have summer vacation add to their skills. There are usually plenty of volunteer positions to go after. Gaining experience through serving others will speak volumes to a future employer. Think outside the box. Brainstorm places in your community where volunteer help would be welcomed: Hospital, YMCA, Summer Camp programs, Parks and Recreation departments, and Theatre productions to name a few. Remember, the goal is to shape future employment opportunities while giving of your time and talents today.
