Many people, when circumstances become unpleasant, or life lacks purpose, question what life is all about. Believe it or not, life is about bringing glory to our Creator.
Ecclesiastes 12:13 Everything you were taught can be put into a few words: Respect and obey God! This is what life is all about.
What were we taught?
This question can only be answered on an individual level. My experience won’t be like yours. From birth, lessons about life flood our formative years. Some people learned about Biblical things like the Golden Rule, and forgiveness, and honesty. Others didn’t have a childhood full of positive training. Instead, harsh or abusive better defined their home.
Begin to learn what God’s word has to say. Put truth alongside what you were taught. If those two don’t mesh, choose to adopt Christ-centered values. All else will lead to a life of regret.
Live to Bring Glory to God
1 Thessalonians 2:12 encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.
John 17:10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them.
Psalm 86:9 All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord; they will bring glory to your name.
Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Isaiah 42:12 Let them give glory to the Lord and proclaim his praise in the islands.
Philippians 4:20 To our God an Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen
Life is More than a Selfish Existence
The verses tell us our lives are more than self interests. Selfish ambition isn’t a wholesome target to shoot for. Living in ways that bring glory to God is best. Then will we attain true success in life. At the end of our days on earth, nothing else will really matter. The right perspective doesn’t surrender to a boring life. It achieves one full of adventures; and satisfaction beyond our imaginings.
Re-frame Life to Glorify God
None of us are stuck in self-centered living. We can all choose to change. Brainstorm ideas that will bring positive change. Take a walk and inhale the beauty of creation. Pick up trash along the way and beautify God’s handiwork. Read the Bible regularly. Apply what you read to daily choices. Be the one who will unexpectedly meet a need. Live to bring God glory and feel good about who you are, too.
